Real estate development is often viewed as destruction of the environment and erosion of the quality of life. We have found a way to enable large projects to tread lightly on the land and benefit the community while maintaining strict financial efficiency.

HartWest is the first private developer in California to build affordable single-family homes with no public funds. Never content with the status quo, we created the eco-initiatives of Greenstreets, the passive solar Temperature Balancing System, and State-HDC-approved Employer-directed Workforce Housing Program.

Originally founded as Robert B. Hart & Associates in 1986, HartWest is now a leading real estate development consultant for non-profit facilities on California’s Pacific Coast. The firm delivers complex facility, campus & community-scale projects on budget and on schedule with the highest level of financially-sensible Green Development Practices.
