Golden Gate Seminary Campus Plan 2012 is a master plan amendment proposed by the Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary for its land on the Strawberry Peninsula. In 1953, over 1,000 units were approved on the site, which at that time was over 150 acres. In the late 70s and early 80s, the Strawberry Community organized and had that entitlement cut to 364 units. Subsequent land sales and construction have left a remaining entitlement of 93 un-built units on the remaining 126 acres. The Seminary intends to honor that figure and the amendment only proposes to:

  • Limits any future development to the previously vested number of residential units, eliminates three institutional buildings and locks in an open space buffer around the property. These protections are not currently in place.
  • Complies with all current zoning regulations and the Marin Countywide Plan.
  • Insures that current traffic levels and those of the 1982 MPA are not exceeded.
  • Responds to community input with; design, landscape, community facilities and aesthetic improvements to the existing campus housing.
  • Responsibly contributes to assisting the County in meeting its housing needs.
  • Establishes high quality Design Guidelines that will run with the subdivided portions of the land.
